GFCI’s save lives. They can be in the form of a receptacle usually rectangular in shape, having small trip and reset buttons on them or in the form of a circuit breaker also having a trip button. GFCI means ground fault circuit interrupter. They can sense dangerous water or moisture conditions and shut the power off in less than 3 mili seconds. It takes about 3 mili seconds for electrical current to stop your hart. If you lose power at one or more exterior outside receptacles, there is a master GFCI usually located in the bathroom or garage that will need to be reset in order to restore the power. A GFCI receptacle cannot be reset if the circuit breaker serving it is tripped or in the off position.
